Last week, we posted an interesting read from the NY Times entitled “Overruling My Father”. Today at the VA for MR we discussed this article and our thoughts and reactions to the story. Dealing with end of life, and the complex decisions surrounding it, is something that all of us do on a daily basis and can be very challenging. One of the topics discussed included that of assessing capacity. As Dr. Cutrell pointed out, it is best accomplished by the team that knows the patient and their family well.
