National Women Physicians Day #NWPD #IAMBLACKWELL

Today is Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell’s 195th birthday. She was the first woman to receive a medical degree from Geneva Medical College in New York in 1849. She is quoted as saying, “If society will not admit of woman’s free development, then society must be remodeled.” She is one of the 22 notable female scientists included in the “History of Women in Science.”
Her birthday has been selected as the “First National Women Physician Day”  by the non-profit organization, “Physician Moms Group.” We would like to recognize our own female physicians at UTSW today who serve as mentors, leaders, and role models to future female physicians.
